Good Game Lounge, a location for gaming, streaming, tournaments, as well as STEM programs, opened their doors at Palisades Center in November 2020. Since then, the business has rapidly grown as a place where novice to professional gamers can gather to socialize, practice, celebrate, and participate in gaming challenges.
Good Game Lounge was founded by Malik Adjoyi, a Rockland County resident. As a young boy he was hospitalized for long periods of time and played video games to pass away the hours. As he grew, Malik knew gaming was a life-long passion and focused his efforts in making a career out of gaming.
He used his love of gaming and his marketing background to organize a successful gaming tournament that drew over 100 players. People took notice and from there Good Game Lounge was born. “When you enter Good Game Lounge it’s so much more than just a retail store,” said Malik. “It’s filled with soul. It’s a place where you join a community of people that love the same things you do, where you’re accepted for being you, and where you’ll form life-long friendships.”
Giving back to the community is part of the essence of Good Game Lounge. Malik welcomes volunteers, participates in the Rockland BOCES PALS Program, and partners with Another Step, Inc. to give people with developmental disabilities recreational time in his store.
It’s been a crazy year of firsts for Malik. From opening a new business in the middle of a pandemic to awaiting the arrival of his first child, he never gave up on his dream. His advice to entrepreneurs is go for it and believe in yourself. Live knowing you tried, rather than live thinking about it.
