Nova Jazz, an innovative, high-energy, dance performance company, will perform at the Palisades Center in Lot B, near Staples, on Sunday, October 25 starting at 2pm. Social distancing protocols will be followed at this drive-in style outdoor performance and money will be raised for the American Cancer Society to support research and treatment.
Nova Jazz is from the Pulse Performing Arts Studio located in Bedford Hills, New York. The group is directed by Jennifer Dell and comprised of young adults highly trained and proficient in styles including theatre dance, jazz, ballet, contemporary and tap. As leaders in their schools and community, Nova Jazz members are required to maintain a disciplined schedule of technique classes as well as uphold high standards of academic achievement and community service.
Nova Jazz members have participated in a variety of performances to benefit charities, including Dancers Responding to Aids, Will Dance for Food and Breast Cancer Awareness. The performance on October 25 will benefit the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. “It’s so important to provide an opportunity for youth to participate in activities that follow the COVID-19 health guidelines, including social distancing, during this challenging period,” said Rockland County Legislator Aney Paul, who holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. “This event will allow the dancers to express their personal creativity while also raising awareness and support for a vital nonprofit community organization. The drive-in-style presentation means we can all enjoy the performances safely.”
