On April 25, 2018, Palisades Center welcomed the Center for Safety & Change and a team of young dancers to raise awareness for Denim Day, a day that has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault based on a trial overturned in the 1990s and is celebrated during the month of April, also known as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The evening program included numerous dance routines and a touching speech by dance instructor, Shar Adrias.
“No one can sit on the sidelines and allow sexual violence to remain prevalent in our community,” said Shar Adrias, organizer of the Center for Safety & Change Denim Day. “It is everyone’s responsibility to stand up and remain vigilant against perpetrators and start believing victims when they find the strength to come forward.”
