Giving back to the community is important to us and one of our featured successes at Palisades Center. We are pleased to partner with all non-profit organizations looking to benefit from the center, whether a tabling for fundraising or hosting large-scale events in our common areas. On Level One near Zara and Steve Madden, we’ve created an interactive barricade to showcase a few of our non-profit partner organizations.
At the American Cancer Society, they’re on a mission to free the world from cancer. Each holiday season at Palisades Center, the American Cancer Society has held their annual gift wrapping station.
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. In July, the American Red Cross will return for a blood drive.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Every April, Autism Speaks celebrates World Autism Month beginning with United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place throughout the month to increase understanding and acceptance and foster worldwide support. Learn more about their interactive events!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County pairs a child at risk with a role model and starts something incredible – a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential. “Bigs” and “Littles” have visited Palisades Center for a variety of events, including free showings to Circo Hermanos Vasquez and have held events in the community rooms.
Community Awareness Network For A Drug-Free Life And Environment, Inc. (CANDLE) was founded as a non-profit organization in 1982. Its mission is to prevent substance abuse and violence among youth. CANDLE’s goal is to improve the health and climate of our schools and our communities by providing prevention education and resistance strategies to youth and their adult allies, and support programs for young people at risk. With Palisades Center, CANDLE Rockland uses the community rooms to help further their mission.
The mission of the Center for Safety & Change is to develop strategies to end gender-based violence and provide shelter and supportive services that empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse and other crimes. Palisades Center and the Center for Safety & Change has co-sponsored numerous events throughout the years, including a flash mob featuring youth performers for Denim Day in 2018.
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson
Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson council supports girls reach their fullest potential throughout Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. The organization offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Learn more about their awareness campaigns here.
Hi Tor Animal Center’s mission is to provide a space where adoptable animals are sheltered in comfort, safety, and security; where they have a place to exercise and experience joy; and where they can know the love of the community while the tireless staff and volunteers seek to find them their forever homes. In addition the shelter aims to deliver the highest standard of care possible while promoting responsible pet ownership through education. Chet visited Palisades Center during our annual Pet Nights with Santa in December 2018 and today, he is now in a loving home!
Indian Cultural Society of Rockland
The Indian Cultural Society of Rockland has been passionately keeping the torch of Indian culture alive in the tri-state area since 1972. ICSR is a non-profit organization representing over 500 families of Indian origin in the county of Rockland, Orange, and parts of New Jersey. ICSR is instrumental in promoting Indian culture, arts, music and heritage to local mainstream community through various events organized throughout the year. With Palisades Center, ICSR has sponsored events including the annual AAPI Health Fair that takes place in November and YouthFest.
The Knights of Columbus were founded in 1882 and today is a worldwide organization that contributes to numerous charities from assisting families to disaster reliefs. Each holiday season, the Knights of Columbus host the blessing of the Creche following the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mental Health Association is a primary source of community mental health treatment and empowerment programs for adults and children in Rockland County. Mental Health Association has been partnering with Palisades Center for years to host seminars and film screenings in the community rooms.
Alongside Palisades Center, the hospital was one of the honorees for the 2019 Pinnacle Awards by the Rockland Business Association for “Outstanding Achievement by a Non-Profit Organization.” Over the past twenty years, Montefiore Nyack has held their Parkinson’s Disease Support Group in the community rooms. New York State Society of Professional Engineers
The New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) represents the interests of professional engineers, totaling more than 25,000 licensees in New York State, practicing in all disciplines and practicing in all practice settings. NYSSPE members consist of engineering professionals, engineers in training and engineering students from all disciplines and employment sectors that advocates licensure, promotes the ethical, competent and lawful practice of engineering, and enhances the image and interests of its members and the engineering profession. NYSSPE provides continuing education courses at Palisades Center within the community rooms.
Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1869 as a home for abandoned children, The Foundling today offers an expansive array of services for underserved children, families, and adults with developmental disabilities. Whether it’s an abused child in need of a foster home, a young mother who lacks the skills to care for her child, or a young person lost in the juvenile justice system, The Foundling provides the resources necessary to rebuild lives and rebuild families. The New York Foundling has been a long-time partner of Palisades Center and continues to use the community rooms for a variety of events.
For decades, People to People has been assisting our community’s most vulnerable families, anxious seniors and worried veterans. All of us at People to People believe that by helping our neighbors meet their basic needs, we make our a world a better place. This year, Palisades Center donated various lunch boxes, musical instruments, and enrichment items for young children to benefit the families that People to People serve!
The Salvation Army is a global charitable organization that assists a variety of groups from aiding veterans to brightening the holidays. At Palisades Center, The Salvation Army holds annual coin drops and performs throughout the months of November and December.
The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Program, raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots Campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots Campaigns. For years, Toys for Tots has been an active campaign at Palisades Center and is considered their top location in the area!
The United Way of Rockland is a local, independent organization that envisions a community where individuals and families have the skills and opportunity to achieve a quality education, financial stability, and a healthy lifestyle. Learn more about their fundraising events at Palisades Center.
Vitalant provides blood and special services to patients in more than one thousand hospitals across forty states. Millions of people in communities throughout these states depend on generous volunteer blood donors and our dedicated team to make sure lifesaving blood is available when and where it is needed. Vitalant held three blood drives in 2018 and were able to save 40+ lives!
A place for building hope and healing, The Walter Hoving Home is a non-profit, residential home serving women ages 18 and over who have been involved in drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution, crime and other life-controlling problems. The spiritually-based program is geared to rebuilding broken lives in an atmosphere of warmth, trust, support and love. Volunteers on behalf of the organization promote their awareness campaigns throughout the year in Palisades Center.
