PALISADES CENTER PARTNERS WITH CHERRY HILL PROGRAMS AND AUTISM SPEAKS TO PRESENT A SENSORY-FRIENDLY BUNNY CARES EVENT TO CAPTURE MAGIC AND RING IN THE SPRING SEASON

West Nyack, NY (March 2023): This spring, people with autism and other sensory differences can enjoy a tradition many families take for granted: visiting the Easter Bunny. Bunny Cares, a program developed by Cherry Hill Programs and Autism Speaks, will host a sensory-friendly event at Palisades Center, on Sunday, March 26, from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, just in time to kick off World Autism Month.
Sights, sounds and crowds can be overwhelming for some people with autism who may have sensory differences. At the Bunny Cares event, Cherry Hill Programs and Palisades Center address sensory concerns by offering a photo experience before traditional operating hours, minimizing crowds, and ensuring that lighting and music volume are reduced and comfortable. To eliminate long wait times, families can reserve time with Bunny, who has received training to understand and support the needs of people with autism.
“A visit with the Bunny is a tradition that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy,” said Darrin Houseman, General Manager of Palisades Center. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Cherry Hill Programs and Autism Speaks to ensure families feel comfortable as they partake in our holiday experiences.”
“We are honored to serve a wide range of communities and to encourage all families to relish special moments during the holiday seasons. With Autism Speaks’ support, we’ve trained our staff and Bunny to engage with audiences with certain sensitivities. Simply allowing extra time for each visitor to experience the ultimate Easter tradition is something we’re extremely humbled to provide,” said Chris Landtroop, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Cherry Hill Programs.
A caring mother and Bunny Cares guest shared, “Visiting the Easter Bunny was one of my favorite childhood memories, but as a parent of a child with autism, I often worried that my daughter wouldn’t have an equally enjoyable experience. Thanks to Bunny Cares events, my daughter was able to share a special moment with the Easter Bunny—I was thrilled to see her light up and feel so fortunate that we were able to capture the magic of her visit on camera. I know it is a memory she will treasure for years to come.”
Throughout the season, donations are collected on behalf of Autism Speaks at the Easter experience and online at whereisbunny.com. Since 2015, holiday photo experiences have collected more than $1M to support Autism Speaks’ mission, including advocacy, services, support, research, innovation, and advances in care for autistic individuals and their families.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome to Palisades Center’s Bunny Cares event on March 26. While visits are free, photo packages are available for purchase. To register for this sensory-friendly event, visit whereisbunny.com.
