Returning for their annual mall walk, United Way of Rockland will host “Laps for Literacy” on Saturday, November 17th at Palisades Center to campaign funding and awareness for literacy programing throughout Rockland County.

United Way’s Rockland County chapter supports the local community through research and grassroots advocacy, by identifying the most urgent community needs in the areas of education, healthcare, and economic security. The organization assists with supplemental literacy programs nationwide, ranging from early childhood pre-literacy enrichment through high school after-schools and summer programming.

Laps for Literacy will be supporting Parent Child Home Program and After Schools Playgroups (coordinated by Rockland 21C), tuition scholarships (coordinated by Childcare Resources of Rockland), Youth Summer Programs at Martin Luther King and Haverstraw Centers, and various school districts including East Ramapo, Nyack, Clarkstown, North Rockland, and Orangetown.

The event will take place on Level Three, starting near the Food Court at Palisades Center. Participants will walk the length of the level and be eligible for raffles and giveaways.
